One injured in crash involving car-carrier and SUV on 101
The driver of an SUV suffered moderate injuries when his stopped vehicle was struck by a semi truck Thursday morning.
The accident happened on Highway 101 northbound just south of Buellton near the Three Bridges area. Santa Barbara County Fire crews responded just before 5:30 a.m.
Authorities say the SUV was disabled and stopped in the number two lane of the highway and the driver was out of the vehicle standing in front of it. That’s when the semi truck carrying new cars hit the SUV. The SUV rolled over and the 32-year-old male driver suffered moderate injuries, according to officials. He was taken to Cottage Hospital by ambulance.
The semi truck cab suffered significant damage and came to rest just off the road. The truck driver was not injured.
Traffic on the 101 in that area was impacted for at least two hours.
