Home destroyed in fire near Paso Robles

A home was destroyed and a vegetation fire was extinguished after a structure fire at a home south of Paso Robles.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Cal Fire San Luis Obispo responded for a reported structure fire at a home on the 900 block of South River Road just south of Paso Robles city limits.

Crews found a single story, single family home that was fully involved with heavy smoke and flames visible in attic.

Wind in the area picked up a flame and lit some nearby vegetation. The nearby grass burned two acres but crews were able to stop forward progress and extinguish the flames.

The 2,000 square-foot home was completely destroyed.

Nearby sheds and another house were exposed but not damaged. Power lines were also reported down in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews will be working at the home for the next few hours mopping up hot spots and ensuring fire doesn’t spark back up.
