Community fair held in Santa Barbara to shed light on victim’s rights

The Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center teamed up with the Santa Barbara County Victim Witness Program for a community resource fair at De La Guera Plaza on Saturday.

The event was held in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

The organizations hope to provide resources to individuals exposed to violence as well as educate them to what resources are available.

“We want to show that there is a lot of support in our community. There’s many organizations who can help individuals in difficult times — whether it’s counseling, support, information,” Program organizer Idalia Gomez said. “We have a lot of organizations that can help with that.”

The event had four different speakers from around the community as well as an art therapy workshop to help show people a healthy technique to deal with trauma.
