Suspects sought in connection to check scam in Santa Barbara, Ventura Counties

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying two women that have scammed Bank of America customers out of thousands of dollars in Santa Barbara County and Ventura County.

Nicknamed “The Parking Lot Charmer Crew” by the Oxnard Police Department, the two women allegedly run a scam that entails the pair approaching unsuspecting Bank of America customers and convincing them to cash fraudulent checks.

When the bank learns that the check is fraudulent, the bank deducts the amount from the victim’s bank account. The victim is left on the hook for the amount deducted.

The women have scammed Bank of America customers in Goleta, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Oxnard.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact the Oxnard Police Department at (805) 385-7740.

If spotted, citizens are advised not to approach them.
