Major league changes will take place in 2018 for several local high schools
Buena and Ventura are out of the Channel League while Lompoc, Cabrillo and Santa Ynez are in, those are just some of the many changes that were passed at the Releaguing Meeting for the CIF Northern Area. The changes will begin in the fall of 2018.
Buena and Ventura are headed to the Pacific View League.
Bishop Diego football will play in the Camino League along with Agoura, Oak Park, Royal, and Simi Valley.
In all other sports, the Cardinals will be in the 11-school Tri-County Athletic Association.
Carpinteria will belong to a new league that includes Hueneme, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Nordhoff, Malibu and for football only Santa Clara.
Below is a list of all the new leagues for the fall of 2018. It is a two-year league cycle. While these changes have been approved it still could be appealed by schools.
Football only leagues:
Marmonte: Westlake, Newbury Park, Calabasas, Oaks Christian
Camino: Bishop Diego, Agoura, Simi Valley, Royal, Oak Park
Canyon: St. Bonaventure, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Grace Brethren
Marmonte (non football): Calabasas, Newbury Park, Oaks Christian, Thousand Oaks, Westlake
Canyon (non football): Camarillo, Moorpark, Oak Park, Royal, Simi Valley, Agoura
Pacific View: Channel Islands, Oxnard, Pacifica, Rio Mesa, Ventura, Buena
Channel League: Lompoc, Dos Pueblos, Dos Pueblos, San Marcos, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Cabrillo
Unnamed League: Carpinteria, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Malibu, Nordhoff, Hueneme, Santa Clara (football only)
Tri-County Athletic Association: Bishop Diego, Santa Clara, Cate, Laguna Blanca, St. Bonaventure, Thacher, Villanova Prep, Grace Brethren, La Reina, Providence, Foothill Tech
Condor: Besant Hill, Dunn, Garden Street Academy, Midland, Oak Grove, Ojai Valley
Coast Valley: Coastal Christian, Coast Union, Cuyama Valley, Maricopa, North County Christian, Shandon, Valley Christian
