DoD: Soldier from SLO dies in non-combat incident in Afghanistan
The Department of Defense announced Monday the death of a soldier from San Luis Obispo.
According to the release, Sgt. 1st Class Robert R. Boniface, 34, of San Luis Obispo died March 19th, in Logar Province, Afghanistan. His death is said to be from a non-combat related incident. The DoD reports that incident is under investigation at this time.
Sgt. Boniface was part of the 7th Special Forces Group based out of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
