Ventura man arrested on suspicion of domestic violence
A Ventura man could face charges for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon after an argument broke out between the man and his girlfriend Saturday night in Ventura.
The incident happened on the 9100 block of Neath Street at around 11:55 p.m.
Police say Stephen Opferman, 26, hit his girlfriend several times in the head while armed with a gun.
The victim sustained moderate injuries but was treated by emergency personnel on scene.
Although a loaded gun was found at the scene, no shots were fired.
Opferman was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
