Rincon Invitational raises college scholarship money

The Rincon Invitational is underway at Rincon Point near Carpinteria.

The surf spot on the Ventura- Santa Barbara County line didn’t have the biggest waves on Saturday, but that didn’t put a damper on team spirit.

The annual competition is about sharing waves.

Team members from San Diego to Santa Barbara win points by catching waves together.

Project Save our Surf volunteer Cassidy Urbany won a $500 scholarship,

The nonprofit created by Shawn Thompson and Tanna Frederick hosts beach cleanups and beach days for the Santa Barbara Autism Society.

The Rincon Invitational will continue on Sunday from 7a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spectators are welcome.
