Suspect arrested in connection to gas siphoning incident in Goleta

An arrest has been made in connection to a gas siphoning incident that occurred at a Goleta business early Thursday morning.

Robert Antles, 58, of Goleta was arrested in connection to the crime which was all caught on surveillance video.

At around 12:30 a.m., security cameras captured a man and a woman pulling into a parking lot, drilling a hole in a tank and then siphoning gas from a pair of delivery trucks at Coastal Copy on Ward Drive in Goleta.

After KEYT broadcasted the security footage on air Thursday evening, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that identified Antles as a person of interest.

Deputies tracked Antles to a residence in Goleta and made an arrest. Antles is on probation for multiple counts of burglary.

The woman in the video has not been arrested.

Antles is being held without bail due to his probation status. He could face charges for theft and felony vandalism.
