New fire station plan heats up in Goleta

Goleta could be getting a new fire station in an area with tremendous growth over the last 10 years.

Many residents say it is over due.

The process, however, will take its course with public scrutiny, environmental reviews, and hearings in front of city leaders along with the California State Coastal Commission.

It’s unclear how long that will take.

City leaders have a power point presentation and more information ready for the public at an open forum Thursday night at Ellwood School starting at 6 p.m.

The County Fire Department says it has seen demands for services go up on the western end of the valley over the last decade in part because of Goleta home and business development and also the expansions on and off the UC Santa Barbara campus.
