Weekend crash in Orcutt sends one person to the hospital

Three people are fortunate to be alive Sunday night after a violent crash near the intersection of Clark Avenue and Orcutt Road in the town of Orcutt.

Santa Barbara County firefighters were called out to the scene of the crash at about 7 p.m., along with medical personnel and the California Highway Patrol.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision with three people suffering injuries that ranged from minor to moderate or major, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni.

The crash victim suffering from moderate to major injuries had to be extricated from one of the vehicles, Capt. Zaniboni said. This person was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Their condition is unknown.

Capt. Zaniboni said the other two patients refused medical treatment. No other details were immediately available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the CHP.
