Arrests made in connection to drug overdose death near Ojai

The Ojai Police Department announced the arrest of two suspects believed to be connected to a drug overdose death that occurred in December of 2016.

On December 29, 2016, Ojai police responded to a home in Meiners Oaks where they found a 23-year-old man that had died from a heroin overdose.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit began an investigation into the victim’s death.

Officers conducted multiple interviews and arrested some subjects who were believed to be associated with the victim and possibly involved in selling him drugs.

Detectives narrowed their search down to two suspects and search warrants were served.

On Friday, March 3, officers arrested Gregory Ledbetter, 26, of Ventura on a complaint of furnishing heroin and involuntary manslaughter. On Tuesday March 7, Clinton Erickson, 23, of Santa Paula was arrested on a complaint of furnishing heroin to the victim and involuntary manslaughter.

The two suspects have future court dates pending.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about is asked to contact the Ventura Sheriff’s Office.
