Montecito Fire Protection District conducting prescribed burns

You may have seen several plumes of white smoke Wednesday morning. Nothing to worry about.

The Montecito Fire Protection District has several prescribed burns scheduled in the Montecito area and Carpinteria Wednesday.

Fire season remains low, but fire agencies are getting a head start in the all-year round fight against wildfires.

The Santa Barbara City Fire Department will be conducting their annual Defensible Space Chipping for the Las Canoas on Monday, March 13, for homeowners who live within the Wildland Fire Suppression Assessment District.

Residents are asked to have their piles out by March 13. Any questions, or to schedule a Voluntary Defensible Space Evaluation, may be directed to Chris Barden with the Santa Barbara City Fire Department at 805-564-5737.
