Afternoon Orcutt home fire keeps firefighters busy
Santa Barbara County and Santa Maria firefighters are on scene of an active house fire in the town of Orcutt Tuesday afternoon.
The single-family home fire was reported at 4:19 p.m. in the 300 block of Crescent Avenue.
The homes residents were not inside the home at the time of the fire. Fire crews mounted an aggressive attack, and knocked down the fire within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.
A neighbor was walking by the house when they heard a fire alarm, saw smoke coming from inside, and called 911, according to a KCOY 12 news crew on scene.
Fire crews did a sweep of the home using thermal imaging technology. It’s suspected the fire may have started in the kitchen before spreading to the attic, which suffered extensive damage due to smoke and fire.
The American Red Cross notified the residents who lived there. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
