Santa Paula police make drug arrest following domestic dispute

A Santa Paula man was arrested Wednesday evening after police say he pushed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute and was found with methamphetamine on his person.

At around 10:20 p.m., Santa Paula Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute near the back of a commercial building on the 800 block of West Telegraph Road.

When officers arrived they located Eduardo Lopez, 22, of Santa Paula pushing a woman and screaming at her.

Officer investigated and determined the woman was Lopez’s girlfriend. She was uninjured.

Police contacted Lopez and searched his person. Officers found a large quantity of methamphetamine located in the rear pocket of his pants. Officers located two more plastic bags containing a large quantity of methamphetamine in a hat on the ground.

The total weight of the methamphetamine located was 1 ounce and 10 grams.

Lopez was also found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for petty theft.

Lopez was arrested and officers searched his backpack. Police reportedly found burglary tools, including a pair of bolt cutters and two screw drivers. One of the screw drivers was modified and flattened to be used as a key, commonly referred to as a “shaved key.”

Lopez was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail where he is being helf on a $52,500 bail

He could face charges for domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of burglary tools, and outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
