Earthquake rattles the Gaviota Coast

A small earthquake rattled the Gaviota Coast about 8:50 Wednesday night. It was centered about 18 miles west of Isla Vista and 14 miles south of Solvang in the Santa Barbara Channel.

The U.S, Geological Survey reports the quake struck at a depth of 3.7 miles below the surface.

Those who felt it described it as a strong but quick jolt. There are no reports of any injuries or damage.
