No drama this time as Oxnard cruises into CIF semifinals for first time in more than a decade

Luis Cervantes’ three-pointer midway through the second quarter gave Oxnard a 31-11 lead as the top-seeded Yellowjackets whipped La Salle 73-55 in a CIF division 2A quarterfinal game.

Mason Johnson scored a game-high 26 points while teammate Brycen Wight added 25 as Oxnard advanced to a CIF semifinal game for the first time since 2006.

The Yellowjackets will play at Vista Murrieta on Friday.

Oxnard had advanced to the quarterfinals on a 55-foot shot at the buzzer by Tanner Gray last Friday.
