Santa Barbara couple deliver sweet surprise to CHP officer

A grateful Santa Barbara couple delivered sweet baked goods to a California Highway Patrol officer that helped them in their hour of need.

CHP Officer Jonathan Gutierrez said Jamie and Troy Greenberg were driving on road conditions similar to Friday’s storm on Jan. 22, when their car hydroplaned at about 9 p.m. and left disabled on the freeway.

The vehicle was facing the wrong way after becoming disabled. Lucky for the couple, Santa Barbara area CHP Sgt. Jim Richards arrived moments after the crash.

With the help and reinforcements of other CHP officers, the car was safely taken off the freeway. Sgt. Richards drove Jamie home while her husband Troy stayed on scene to work with a local tow truck driver and the other CHP officers.

The Santa Barbara couple stopped by the Santa Barbara area CHP office to personally thank everyone for the top notch service the CHP provided that dark evening.
