Woman found dead in San Luis Obispo mobile home fire died of natural causes
A woman whose body was found after a fire ripped through her mobile home died of natural causes according to the San Luis Obispo Fire Department.
On Thursday, January 19, crews responded to a fire at a mobile home on the 100 block of Stephanie Drive in San Luis Obispo.
Crews entered the building in an effort to extinguish the flames. Once inside they located the body of the home’s sole occupant, an elderly woman.
Emergency medical responders tended to the woman but she was pronounced dead on scene.
At the time of the fire, her cause of death was unknown.
She has been identified as 69-year-old Judith Ashlock.
Medical examiners determined that Ashlock did not have smoke in her lungs which indicated that she died from natural causes. Her body however was badly burnt.
Investigators determined that Ashlock died while operating her stove. Ashlock fell onto a burner which ignited and caused the fire. Investigators said the knob on the stove was still turned on after the fire had been extinguished.
No one else was injured in the fire,
