UCSB Grad Dies After Falling Off Balcony in Isla Vista

A UCSB graduate died after falling from a second story balcony at an apartment in the 800 block of Embarcadero Del Norte around 1:30am on Sunday. According to friends who witnessed the incident, 22 year old Kenneth Yun was attempting to sit on a railing when he fell backward. He landed in an asphalt parking lot and struck his head on impact. Yun was transported to Cottage Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for head trauma and internal injuries. In spite of the medical team’s efforts, just after 8:00 a.m. Yun succumbed to his injuries. According to his family, Yun had been living in San Francisco and working in the Engineering field. The Coroner’s Office is conducting a death investigation to determine an official cause and manner of death. A final determination is pending toxicology and lab results.
