Crews knock out fire at Orcutt residence

Crews from Santa Barbara County Fire Department put out a fire at a home in Orcutt late Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 11:40 a.m. at a home at 4261 Morning Ridge Road.

Santa Barbara County Fire responded with four engines, oxygen and a truck company from Santa Maria City Fire.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front door. Firefighters made an aggressive attack and were able to knock down the fire in about 20 minutes.

California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to help with traffic control.

There were two occupants in the home. They made it out before crews arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but one of the occupants said the fire may have started in the fireplace.

No injuries were suffered as a result of the fire, including occupants and fire personnel.
