Arroyo Grande business forced to close temporarily after vehicle crashes into building

An Arroyo Grande business was forced to close for an undetermined amount of time after a vehicle crashed into the side of their building Wednesday afternoon.

According to Five Cities Fire Authority, at around 1:10 p.m. a passenger vehicle and a van collided near the intersection of Halcyon Road and Dodson Way.

The van involved went off the roadway and crashed into the side of a building at 260 Halcyon Road that houses Arroyo Grande Optometry.

A building official from Grover Beach as well as a local salvage company were called into investigate the building’s structural integrity. Both deemed the building to be “structurally damaged” and the building was red tagged.

The salvage company closed off the building and worked to shore up the structure.

The optometrist office will remain closed until city officials can determine the building is safe again.

Both vehicles were towed and no one on scene was treated for injuries.
