Goleta man in serious condition after being stabbed

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public for help locating a stabbing suspect that left a Goleta resident fighting for his life.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 40’s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build and shaved or bald head. He was reportedly wearing a dark colored tank top and shorts.

The suspect was last seen possibly driving a dark colored Toyota Solara or Honda Civic type of car with the driver’s side headlight and hood damaged.

The Sheriff’s Office says the attack occurred on Tuesday just before 2 p.m. at Calle Real and Sonoma Avenue in the city of Goleta. Deputies were called out to the scene on a report of two men fighting in the street. Deputies soon discovered a 49-year-old man bleeding from the head with a stab wound.

Investigators believe the suspect struck the victim with a dangerous weapon in addition to stabbing him.

Deputies were able to recover several weapons at the scene of the crime, but were not able to locate the suspect, who investigators say fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

It’s not clear whether the suspect and victim knew each other or what motivated the attack.

Anyone with any information regarding this violent attack is urged to call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at 805-683-2724. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call 805-681-4171.
