Abu Danladi’s long journey has taken him to the top of the board of Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft.

Expansion Minnesota United selected the former Dunn High School star with the first overall pick. The 21-year old Danladi spent the past three years playing for UCLA.

Before Westwood, Danladi was Gatorade’s National boys soccer Player of the Year in 2014 when he starred in Los Olivos for the Earwigs.

Danladi is from Ghana and he arrived in Los Olivos through the Right to Dream Academy.

Now his dream to play professional soccer is a reality.

Also in the first round UCSB’s Nick DePuy was taken 19th overall by Montreal Impact.

Depuy’s 31 career goals ranks fourth all-time in UCSB history.
