KCOY 12 reporter attacked by dog while covering story

KCOY 12 reporter Amanda Valdes was out Monday covering some of the aftermath from the weekend storms, but tonight she’s recovering after a dog attacked her in Oceano.

The dog’s owner had him in a car because the family’s backyard was flooded out. Somehow the dog got out of the car and bit Amanda on her right leg.

This is video captured in the last moments before the dog attacked Reporter Amanda Valdes.

The dog’s owner came running up with an axe and was able to get the dog away. The owner reportedly suffered wounds to his hands.

Our staff would like to thank the wonderful folks from Five Cities Fire Authority, and the staff at Arroyo Grande Hospital who took good care of Amanda. She is home resting now.

The dog was taken away by animal control, and are investigating what sparked the attack. We don’t know yet what will happen to the dog.
