Macy’s drops prices by 30 percent as the Santa Barbara downtown store begins closing

Macy’s is starting to clear out the inventory from its downtown Santa Barbara store with discounts of up to 30 percent. The store will go dark in the spring along with 67 others in the chain as part of the growing reorganization.

The La Cumbre Macy’s will remain open.

Since last August about 100 stores have been listed for the closure.

Customers getting the first bargains say they will come back again as the discounts grow.

Macy’s has been open at the site since 2000.

It’s unknown what store or group of stores will be moving into the location on the corner of State Street and Ortega on an anchor spot of the Paseo Nuevo Mall.
