DP Football receives major awards at Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Luncheon

Dos Pueblos swept the major awards as Noozhawk honored the All-South Coast Football Team.

DP’s Kellen Roberts was named Offensive Player of the Year while teammate Marcellous Gossett claimed Defensive Player of the Year honors. The Chargers Nate Mendoza is the Coach of the Year.

Roberts threw for over 3,000 yards with 27 touchdown passes and the senior quarterback also ran for another seven scores.

Gossett recorded 17 and a half sacks and the senior defensive end also scored two touchdowns on fumble recoveries. He blocked four kicks and had two safeties.

Mendoza led DP to nine wins, a co-Channel League crown and the school’s first playoff win in football since 2001.

Bishop Diego had the most players on the All-South Coast Football Team with ten.
