Oxnard hospice nurse arrested on manslaughter, drug charges
A former hospice nurse who was previously arrested on narcotics charges was arrested Friday on manslaughter charges in connection to the 2015 death of a Ventura woman.
Sandra Rothweiler was previously arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell after the overdose death of 61-year-old Della Gleeson. An investigation determined Rothweiler had possibly provided Gleeson with the narcotics that caused her death.
Rothweiler had previously provided hospice care for Gleeson’s mother and the two had remained in contact after the mother’s death.
On August 14, 2015, Officers executed a search warrant at Rothweilers residence and located a large supply of prescription drugs including Xanax and morphine. Rothweiler was later arrested for possession of the drugs.
Since Rothweiler’s arrest in 2015, investigators continued to look into Rothweiler’s role in Gleeson’s death.
On Friday, the Ventura County District Attorney filed a criminal complaint against Rothweiler alleging drug dealing and manslaughter. A warrant was issued she was arrested.
Rothweiler is currently in custody at the Ventura County Main Jail with a bail of $100,000.
