Multi-car crash on Highway 154 injures several people

A multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning sent one car on its side and injures several people.

It happened on state Route 154 and Painted Cave Road just before 8 a.m. Three cars were involved in the collision according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

One of the vehicles collided with a guardrail while another came to rest on its wheels on the highway. Six people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the crash is not yet known. The California Highway Patrol website reported advanced traffic before the blind curve where the accident occurred, and that is coupled with poor visibility from the fog.

Highway 154 was closed in both directions while the CHP investigates the collision. Caltrans tweeted that U.S. Highway 101 is being used as a detour.
