Flash flood watch issued for burn areas of Santa Barbara County
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard issued a flash flood warning for areas in Santa Barbara County affected by recent wildfires.
The warning is in effect from Sunday morning until Sunday evening.
Heavy rain from thunderstorms could cause flash flooding and dirt and debris flow near areas scorched by the Rey, Sherpa and Canyon wildfires.
A flash flood watch means that there is no active flooding occurring but conditions may change rapidly.
The National Weather Service said flash flooding is an incredibly dangerous weather condition and areas near recent burn areas are at an increased level of danger.
Southern California residents in or below the recently burned areas are urged to take the steps necessary to protect their property. Residents in the watch area are told to remain alert and follow directions of emergency preparedness officials.
