Hiker injured in Bishop Peak fall identified

The name of a hiker who was seriously injured after falling from Bishop Peak in San Luis Obispo has been identified as 18-year-old Evan LaLanne.

LaLanne fell over 30-feet from the popular hiking trail Thursday evening. Emergency crews hiked to his location and a helicopter flew him to the hospital.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the LaLanne family to help cover the expenses related to LaLanne’s injuries.

According to the GoFundMe page, LaLanne was flown to Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto for surgery. LaLanne reportedly was paralyzed below the waist and it’s unclear if the paralysis will be permanent.

A recent update to the page stated that LaLanne was in “good spirits” and that he would be transferred to a spinal rehabilitation center in three to five days.

The GoFundMe page had nearly reached it’s goal of $50,000 for the LaLanne family.
