First baby born in Santa Barbara County in 2017 welcomed at hospital

The first baby born in Santa Barbara County was welcomed into the world at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria early Sunday morning.

Everett Eugene Perez was born at 12:28 a.m. to parents Ashley Schultz and Eric Perez.

Baby Perez weighed in at seven pounds, nine ounces.

Everett is the first baby for each of the proud parents.

The baby and mother are both in good health.

The parents received a gift basket from Marian Regional Medical Center.
