First baby born in San Luis Obispo County in 2017

San Luis Obispo County welcomed its first baby born in the county in 2017.

Aurora Shanel Lyons was born Sunday at the Family Birthing Center at French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo at 11:15 a.m.

Little Aurora weighed in at eight-pounds and measured 20-inches in length.

The newborn’s proud parents are mother Macy Cunningham-Rule and father James Lyons. Aurora is the first child for the couple.

Macy and Aurora are in good health and celebrating the baby’s arrival.

Cunningham-Rule said to hospital staff, “What an unexpected and awesome way to start the New Year.”

French Hospital Medical Center staff presented the family with a gift basket filled with gifts and essentials for both mother and baby.
