Hiker seriously injured from fall at Bishop Peak near SLO

A hiker suffered serious injuries after falling near Bishop Peak near San Luis Obispo Thursday evening.

Crews from SLO City Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the injured hiker at around 6 p.m.

Two helicopters were on hand to light the scene and hoist the injured hiker away. Helicopter medics worked on the patient before flying to a nearby hospital.

At around 8 p.m., SLO City Fire tweeted that emergency responders were hiking back down to the base of the peak.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
