French Hospital helps SLO High School Robotics Team get back into gear

French Hospital is allowing the San Luis Obispo High School’s Robotics Team to use their auditorium for the next few days in order to prepare for their robotics competitions in January.

All of the team’s designs and tools were lost in the fire, forcing them to start over. While the fire caused a major setback for the team, one member calls the blaze a “blessing in disguise.”

“Before this happened – robotics was kinda slowing down, people stopped showing up we weren’t really getting much done but it’s like after that happened, we’ve already started building like three different robots – we’re getting a lot done and it’s like kinda made this a little easier,” says Sophomore Alyssa Foley.

The bail for the three former students charged with burning the computer lab has now risen to $100,000.

The estimated damage from the fire has reached more than $1 million.
