Caltrans works to remove rocks from Highway 33

Due to recent rain storms, Caltrans is working to remove rocks from the hills along Highway 33 in Ojai.

Many rocks have become loose and become a hazard to drivers. Rock climbers worked in the Rose Valley area Wednesday and will return from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Caltrans officials said there will be a thirty minute traffic delay through the area while climbers are working.

Rock climbers help maintain and protect slopes along 3,000 miles of state highways by physically removing marginally stable or unstable rocks from the face of a rock slope with crowbars, hands, feet, airbags, and explosives.
