Local Star Wars fans remember actress Carrie Fisher
For many Star Wars fans, the light in the Galaxy is dimmed by the loss of actress Carrie Fisher.
She is best known as Star Wars’ Princess Leia Organa.
Her death comes as the recent installment of the franchise, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is playing in theaters.
Fisher was only 19 when the first movie of the science-fiction franchise was filmed. For many, Princess Leia was one of the first female heroes they saw portrayed on screen.
“I like her because she is one of the only girls playing and she’s really like strong and adventurous,” said Kaitlyn Greenwood of Lompoc.
“She was like the hero. She was concerned about helping other people rather than herself. That is truly a sign of a hero,” said Mark Greenwood of Lompoc.
Fans will have a chance to see Fisher on screen again.
According to multiple reports, Fisher finished filming her part in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is due out in 2017.
