Christmas Tree collection begins in Santa Barbara

A disposal company in Santa Barbara will pick up used Christmas trees beginning Tuesday.

MarBorg will collect extra items from all Santa Barbara city residential customers between December 27 to January 7 for free.

Extra items left after big holiday parties, meals, wrapping paper and trees will be available for pick up. Customers can leave the bags or bundles next to their trash bins.

If there are excessive amounts of extra waste, please call MarBorg at 805-963-1852 so they can accommodate the special pickup.

MarBorg has tips for residents:

— If you’re normally picked up on Monday, your pickup day will be Tuesday. If normally picked up Tuesday, your pickup day will be Wednesday, and so on. Call MarBorg with questions, 805-963-1852. Christmas Tree Pickup We will also take your Christmas trees! You don’t need to cut them down unless they are taller than 6 feet. Simply: — Strip the tree of ornaments, garlands, and tinsel. We do not take flocked trees (unless you can remove the flocking). — Remove the tree stand. — Set the whole tree out with your waste.
