Mild morning earthquake stirs Santa Barbara
A mild morning earthquake stirred Santa Barbara and Goleta at 6:16 a.m.
The U.S. Geological Survey said it had a magnitude 3.1 and was southwest of Santa Barbara by about four miles. That would place it offshore.
No reports of damage or injuries have been made.
NewsChannel 3 viewers said they felt it on the Westside, Hidden Valley, parts of lower San Marcos Pass, and in the Goleta Valley.
It was described by some residents as a slow shake with two small jolts. The area has many earthquake faults, especially in the offshore region but none have been active lately.
