U.S. Border Patrol Agent arrested on drug charges, bribery

A Border Patrol agent assigned to San Diego Sector was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Border Corruption Task Force.

The agent has been charged with attempted distribution of six pounds of methamphetamine, attempted distribution of seven kilograms of cocaine, and bribery.

The 36-year old agent has 10 years of service and is presently on non-duty/non-pay status pending the outcome of the investigation.

In a press release, Chief Patrol Agent Richard A. Barlow released the following statement regarding the arrest and the standards of the agency.

“The U.S. Border Patrol is cooperating with all agencies involved in this investigation. Border Patrol agents are held to the highest standards, and we remain committed to performing our duties for the American people in the most professional way.”
