Trapped driver suffers minor injuries in Goleta crash

A man in his mid to late 20’s was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after the vehicle he was driving rolled over near the Los Carneros Road off ramp in Goleta.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 southbound near Los Carneros. Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni says the driver of a Dodge Durango SUV suffered minor injuries but became trapped inside the car. A major extrication was required to get the driver out of the SUV.

Capt. Zaniboni says the vehicle lost control and went over an embankment, about 25 feet over the side. The SUV landed on its side, trapping the driver whose identity was not released.

The driver was taken to Goleta Valley Hospital for medical treatment.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
