SLO Sheriff’s Office celebrates annual bicycle giveaway

Over 100 children rode away with a new bicycle thanks to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and inmates from the San Luis Obispo Honor Farm.

The annual Christmas Bicycle Giveaway was held inside the Honor Farm due to the pouring rain, but the soggy weather couldn’t dampen the spirit of the 184 children who received bicycles.

SLO sheriff’s office said more than 600 bikes were refurbished from the inmates at the Honor Farm. The program has been giving inmates a chance to do good in the community and help those less fortunate for 25 years.

Non-profit organization Rita’s Rainbows donated helmets for each bike.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office also offered their thanks to the Sheriff’s Advisory Foundation, the event coordinator Correctional Sgt. Stephanie Landgraf and all those who participated in this year’s event.
