Injured sea lion pup rescued in Oxnard
An injured sea lion pup was rescued from Channel Islands Sportfishing Center in Oxnard on Thursday.
The pup was sighted earlier in the week near Channel Islands Boating Center but rescuers could not get to it due to nearby adult sea lions.
The pup will receive care from Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI) in Santa Barbara.
A post on CIMWI’s Facebook page said the pup was emaciated and had an injury to her eye but was eating on her own and responding well to treatment.
Rescuers said the pup has a long road to recovery but is “off to a good start!”
