King Tides arrive in California

Winter is coming and with it comes King Tides. The extreme high tides started on Tuesday and will continue throughout the week.

King Tides take place near the solstices, generally on the shortest and longest days of the year.

On Tuesday the higher than average tides didn’t cause much of a scene, but that could all change on Thursday when the end of this Winter’s King Tides and an a incoming storm collide.

The peak of the high tides will be this Wednesday at 8:40 in the morning.

If you decide to check them out in person, the California King Tides project hopes you will snap a picture and send it to them, so they can document the impacts.
