Movie theater employee injured in Ventura strong armed robbery

A Regency Theater employee suffered minor injuries after two men attacked him as he walked in the parking lot of the theater early Monday morning.

Ventura police say the strong armed robbery occurred just after 12:30 a.m. at the Regency Theater located at 1440 Eastman Avenue.

The theater employee had just returned from making a deposit a local bank when the suspect vehicle approached him, according to investigators. A suspect described as a black male in his 20’s, wearing a hospital mask and dark hooded sweatshirt, exited the car and tackled the employee to the ground.

The unnamed theater employee and suspect then began struggling over a deposit bag the employee was carrying. Investigators say that’s when a second suspect described as a black male also in his 20’s, wearing a green-hooded sweatshirt, got out of the car and tried to forcefully take the deposit bag from the employee.

Both suspects fled the area before police arrived, with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects were last seen in a silver sedan with paper plates. Police say the car may be a Ford sedan.

Police were unable to locate the suspects or suspect vehicle. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4488.
