Retired SB Fire Captain Mike Moses Dies

Retired Santa Barbara City Fire Captain Mike Moses passed away from job-related cancer on December 6th. He was at home surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle that started in 2010.

Moses began his career with the SBFD in 1984. He was promoted to captain in 1996, and was assigned to the truck company. In all, Moses spent 27 years with the department. He was also a lifeguard, dedicating his life to public safety.

Moses was promoted to captain in 1996 and was assigned to the truck company. His career was cut short when diagnosed with cancer in 2010 when he retired to focus on his health and family.

Moses is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Katie and Shauna, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mike Moses will be at December 15th at 10:30 a.m., 2016 at Saint Joseph’s Church, 1532 Linden Avenue in Carpinteria with a gathering of friends after at the Santa Barbara Carriage Museum, 129 Castillo Street in Santa Barbara.

A traditional memorial paddle out will honor Mike on December 17th, 2016 in Malibu, California.
