Camarillo man suspected of killing wife located by police

The Camarillo man suspected of killing his wife on Oct. 28 has been located by police, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says Jose Guzman was discovered by Imperial County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a body located on the ranch area of East Faucet Road in Imperial County on Dec. 4.

Fingerprint analysis was used to positively identify the deceased body as Guzman.

Investigators say Guzman severely bludgeoned his wife, Stacey Guzman, in a domestic dispute at their home in the 400 block of Walker Avenue in Camarillo before fleeing the scene in a family car. Despite life-saving efforts, Stacey Guzman died at the hospital from her injuries.

The manhunt for the killer quickly turned to her husband. The Sheriff’s Office says a lengthy and intense investigation was conducted to locate Guzman both in and out of the country.
