One person killed in Oxnard shooting

One person is dead and a second in critical condition following a fatal shooting in Oxnard Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred at about 10 a.m. in the 2000 block of Almanor Drive, according to investigators. They say a person identifying himself as the shooter called police, and met officers by the residence where the shooting had occurred. That person has been detained and questioned by police.

Authorities located a shooting victim at the location and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of this victim was not released pending notification of next of kin.

Police located a second victim at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That victim, whose name was not released by police, was subsequently transported to Ventura County Medical Center.

The Oxnard Police Department and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office are investigating this shooting.
