Man killed while attempting to cross 101 near SLO

UPDATE: This incident was incorrectly reported as a hit and run. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Chevrolet motor home contacted authorities after the collision and was not arrested.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – A San Luis Obispo man is dead after trying to cross US Highway 101 on foot Tuesday night.

California Highway Patrol reported that the man tried crossing the highway in SLO just south of Madonna Road. A 2005 Chevrolet motor home pulling a trailer was traveling southbound when the front of the vehicle struck the 35-year-old man from San Luis Obispo.

CHP said CPR was administered to the man but they were unable to resuscitate him. His name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin,
