Boys & Girls Clubs upgraded by Rotary volunteers

Kids going to Boys & Girls Club facilities in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta are seeing many new improvements this week. The upgrades were part of a visit from Rotary leadership members from across the country.

They were in the area last week for meetings and also made a commitment to help out area kids at the Boys and Girls Clubs.

The work included painting gymnasiums, building new cabinets and cataloging books.

About 500 volunteers were in the area. They took a lunch break at the Westside Santa Barbara Club at Bohnett Park. They were also visited there by longtime Boys & Girls Club supporter and local resident Jeff Henley, Vice Chairman with the Oracle software company.

Later in the evening the Rotary members attended a concert at the Arlington Theater featuring Trombone Shorty. A film about the Rotary efforts including the drive to “End Polio Now” was shown.
